Hi, everyone!
This is Tonka from pEri!x with your daily unusual gift&home idea. Today I want to give you a tip which you can use if you are on a budget or if you have to think of a last minute gift. This tip is especially useful when you want to give something special as a going away gift or to your family.
My free and original gift idea is give something old as a gift. Choose something you have and have already cherished for a long time. There are so many options, but the first that comes to mind is jewelry, of course! It is traditional to give your daughter a jewel that has been in the family for years, or present your wedding cufflinks to the groom, but think more unconventional - books, blankets, dishes, mirrors, boxes, lamps, the list is practically endless!
One of my favorite gifts ever is a book that my cousin gave me. It is a special edition hard cover copy that she has had in her bookshelf for years. She had read the book several times and once she heard that I hadn't, she knew what my next birthday present would be. The best part is that she didn't go to buy a new copy, but gave me the special one that had influenced her life so much.
My favorite pieces of jewelry I have 'stolen' from my grandma's keeper. After she felt too old to wear her 60's and 70's jewelry it was my and my cousin's turn to bring life back to them!
Something Old, Something New, Something To Remember
Remember, when you give a used gift, you give a gift with a story. Maybe it is an old furniture piece (spot on with the current rustic interior trends), a book, a jewelry piece, a crochet table cloth, doesn't matter. To not look cheap, make the package count and come up with a great story around the piece. Why not even write it down? A gift with a story is priceless especially for the ones going away!
If you want to give an unforgettable, original and free gift, just look around you - it is already there. Give something old of yours as a gift, give a gift with a story!
