Unusual Home Ideas - Carton Swords

Hey, everyone!

This is Tonka from pEri!x with your daily unusual gift & home idea. Today I want to share my experience working with children. I work at a language school and during the summer we have a English Summer School. The cool part is that we don't only teach English, but also crafts and imagination!

One of the things the kids from 5 to 11 really enjoyed was making carton swords and guns. I know, I know, playing with guns is wrong, but the kids already know about them and they DO want to play with them. So instead of buying plastic swords and guns, we decided to make some! They loved it and it's totally cheap and safe.

So we just used some old carton, pretty thick, about 0.5 mm/0.2 inch and drew our swords on it. After that we cut them and the kids painted them and decorated them with crayons and color paper.

And the fun started - they played policemen, indians, thieves, pirates and what not. It was fun to see that in our information technology age, the carton was still king and their imagination was still working!

Enjoy!

If you are looking for recycled paper gifts, they are here!
